Few games see release nowadays without some kind of "deluxe" or "special edition." Publisher 2K is getting in on the action this year with a special edition of NBA 2K16 that will celebrate all things Michael Jordan.
This special deluxe edition will only be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. It will retail for $79.99 — $20 more than the base game. So what does that extra cash get you?
• Michael Jordan NBA 2K16 poster
• Michael Jordan Fathead wall cling
• Digital Jordan shoes for your MyPlayer
• Digital Jordan t-shirt for your MyPlayer
• Digital Jordan jersey for your MyPlayer
• 30,000 virtual currency
• MyTeam VIP+: 3 emerald packs and a new special edition exclusive moments card
Simply pre-ordering any version of the game will grant players early access to NBA 2K16 four days ahead of its regular release date, as well as 10,000 virtual currency and the MyTeam VIP pack.
In that context, the extra $20 is mostly going toward the Michael Jordan poster, Fathead and digital gear. Is it worth it? That will be up to NBA 2K16 fans to decide.
This year's NBA title will be directed by none other than Spike Lee, who helped craft the story for the game's MyCareer mode.
"We follow a kid through the trials and tribulations of being a top high school player and the decisions he has to make," Lee told USA Today.
It will also feature three All-Stars on the game's cover: Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors, James Harden of the Houston Rockets and Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans.
NBA 2K16 releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on September 29. Those who pre-order can pick up the game the Friday before on September 25.
