The 360fly camera is gunning to be the top dog in the 360-degree video footage game.
No bigger than a cue ball, the camera records 360 degrees horizontally and 240 degrees vertically with its fisheye lens, with a resolution of 1504x1504. It can record for up to two hours, and has a battery life of about two hours with its built-in Li-Polymer 1600-mAh battery, which takes 2.5 hours to charge. It contains an internal Wi-Fi connection and weighs about 5 ounces.
The camera works with iOS 8 and Android 4.3 and higher, or with WIndows 7 and Mac OS 10.8 or later. It has a built-in microphone and 32 GB of internal storage. It is dust-, water- and shock-resistant up to 1.5 meters, or about 5 feet, and comes with a tilt mount so it can be worn or attached.
Videos can be viewed on your average smartphone, and different angles of footage can be reviewed by swiping your screen in any direction, thereby changing the perspective of the shot. Usually, 360-degree video footage is the result of footage taken with multiple cameras and angles and then stitched together.
Currently, the retail price for the 360fly is $399, which includes software for editing the video. It is available now for preorder and is expected to ship in August.
