'Tangled' Joins The Worlds Of 'Kingdom Hearts 3' In New Gameplay Footage

Fans have been clamoring for new information on Kingdom Hearts 3. The game is still in development and currently doesn't have a release window, but that didn't stop Square-Enix from starting the hype train early with a brand new gameplay trailer for the game, set in a new Disney world.

That world is the land of Disney Animation's Tangled. Disney producer Roy Connelly gave a brief message ahead of the gameplay trailer to announce the inclusion of the film's setting in Square-Enix's latest Disney/JRPG mash-up, and from there, it was a several-minute-long trailer of cinematics and gameplay.

For a game so early in development, Kingdom Hearts 3 already looks stunning. It looks like it plays very similarly to that of Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 and even features many of the same enemy types. Of course, there are some new elements as well. In one segment, we see Sora sprint up a cliffside at a massive Heartless before leaping onto a train that then collides with the monster. At another point in the trailer, Sora forms a type of Keyblade gun and fires at enemies with an aiming reticule.

The world of Tangled itself is bright, colorful and looks to be larger than the environments we've seen from past games in the series. The iconic tower in which Rapunzel lives is seen at one point in the trailer as well, though no actual characters from the movie made an appearance. All of this is capstoned by what looks to be two new characters sitting at a chess board discussing the Keyblade Wars. You can watch the whole trailer below.

Exciting! Square-Enix also announced that Kingdom Hearts: Unchained, a mobile game previously only slated for release in Japan, would be coming stateside.

That's exciting as well, but without a doubt, Kingdom Hearts 3 was the star of Square-Enix's show. Just don't expect it to be coming out anytime soon. When it does, you will be able to play it on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
