It's a common practice for viewers and fans to wait up late at night or even in the wee hours of the morning for the season premiere of their favorite show.
One show, however, redefined how to keep fans on their tiptoes and keep viewers surprised. Netflix released the new season of the hit series Orange Is The New Black a full three hours earlier than originally scheduled.
Fans of the show attending the first OrangeCon event in New York City also got the exciting news that the entire season 3 will be released all at once, sending many women on a series marathon frenzy. The multi-awarded TV show is still going strong coming into its new season and has redefined shows for women. With a strong cast of women playing diverse roles, viewers get a glimpse of the drama and issues women in prison face both in relation to their lives and the lives of the people who care about them.
Besides new challenges in the lives of the characters, season 3 will also have a few new additions in terms of casting. The range of characters seems to be well represented thus far so it will be interesting to watch who they will be adding and what these characters will bring to the show.
The new season will also feature realities that prisons all over the country deal with, such as budget cuts, which put a strain not only on the people running the facilities but also more importantly on the inmates themselves.
"I think there are some topics in Season 3 that are reflecting things that are going on. I think it's really awesome when you can take subjects that are happening in the world now and putting them into a different text and make that into a TV show. I love when art reflects life and life reflects art in a true and honest way," Danielle Brooks, who plays OITNB character Taystee, said.
The entire season 3 of Orange Is The New Black release date is June 11 on Netflix.
