Darth Vader is not a happy camper in the upcoming second season of Disney XD's Star Wars Rebels. A full-fledged rebellion is brewing on planet Lothal, and our heroes will soon find themselves face-to-face with the Emperor's iron fist.
Though he was seen briefly in the show's first season, it looks like Vader will be a major player in Rebels season two, starting with the hour-long season premiere on June 20 titled "The Siege of Lothal." The show takes place between the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: A New Hope at a time when the rebellion is in its infancy and the Empire is at its peak.
It will be up to the crew of the Ghost then to change that. Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), a Jedi in hiding, Hera (Vanessa Marshall), the ace pilot of the Ghost, Sabine (Tiya Sircar), a Mandalorian warrior, Zeb (Steve Blum), the muscle of the crew, and Ezra (Taylor Gray), a young orphan learning the ways of the Force, will have to combine their efforts if they want to survive the siege of their home planet. James Earl Jones will also reprise his role as the voice of Darth Vader for the show. In case you were wondering, he sounds as intimidating as ever.
You can check out a new teaser trailer for the season two premiere below.
Rebels season two looks to raising the stakes considerably over the first season. No longer is the crew of the Ghost simply performing hit and run jobs and looking to push the Empire down anytime they can. Now it looks to be war, as Imperial Star Destroyers can be seen dotting the skies over Lothal and Kanan prepares to battle Darth Vader himself.
It's an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan, but viewers will have to wait until the fall to see the next episode of season two. From there fans will have Star Wars Battlefront in November and then Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens in December, to look forward to. Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal airs on Disney XD Saturday, June 20.
