Rumors have been spreading that Project Zero 2, formerly known as Project Zen, will be rolling out in a couple of weeks and Samsung will be distributing the smartphone as Galaxy S6 Plus.
The phone has been reported to be Galaxy S6 Edge's bigger version with the model number SM-G928. Reports have mentioned that Samsung will launch Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus at IFA trade show in September 2015 at Berlin but it might be unveiled in the coming weeks. Additionally, under the hood of the handset would be a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with a huge 32 GB internal storage and will sport a 5.5-inch or 5.4-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved screen but no word on its resolution just yet. It would also feature a 16-megapixel camera in the rear and 5-MP front camera. This model would not have the S Pen functionality contrary to earlier reports. Samsung has a tendency to release a waterproof, tough version of its handsets but the variations of the Galaxy S6 Plus are still unclear.
Interestingly, Samsung would be releasing an accessory Keyboard Cover for the device and it could be a removable keyboard case, which is more common with tablets. There would also be releases of a Clear View and S View case as accessories for the smartphone.
As a worst-case scenario, Samsung would be launching Project Zero 2 and Project Noble together at the IFA 2015. Project Noble, which the company would officially name as Galaxy Note 5, is believed to compete with rival Apple's iPhone 6S Plus that is expected to be launched in the fall. Samsung Mobile president J.K. Shin has officially denied the false rumor that the Galaxy Note 5 would have an early launching in July but is on track for the IFA launch. Shin has also denied reports that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have been performing below par in the market, which are arguably the best flagship smartphones available.
An advance Exynos 7422 octa-core processor would power the Galaxy Note 5 and it will have the S pen functionality. Many believed the Exynos 7422 would be the company's first ever all-in-one solution (ePoP) as it will combine the CPU, GPU, modem, RAM, and storage on a single chip. The new phone would also sport a non-curved 4k or 2k Super AMOLED flat screen.
Samsung has not issued any official announcements regarding both smartphones.
