Lara Croft's next adventure is coming later this year, and Microsoft doesn't want you to forget that it has exclusive first dibs.
A new trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider has hit the web, and shows Lara embracing her destiny as the legendary explorer we all know her to be. In the trailer, she climbs a mighty mountain peak and overcomes an avalanche to emerge in a mysterious temple, all while narrating about how for some people, discovering the world's secrets is the only way to live.
The end of the trailer declares the game's world premiere will happen at Microsoft's E3 press conference on June 15. The icy setting of the trailer matches previous glimpses we've seen of the game, though we have yet to see any actual gameplay. Expect it to play similarly to the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot, which served as an origin story for Lara.
In case you forgot, Rise of the Tomb Raider is actually a timed exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox 360. So far we only know that it will be out "this holiday", but expect an official release date to be dropped at E3. Once the game is out, it will be a few months before the game arrives on other platforms. Fans playing on PlayStation will have to dodge spoilers for a few months before getting their own chance to play the game.
Microsoft also unveiled the game's official box art, which you can see below.
It looks like Lara will be spending plenty of time in the snow in her new adventure. As seen in the trailer and on the box, she will be keeping her now signature pickaxes along for the trip. Her bow from the 2013 reboot also looks to return, which should be perfect for stealthily taking out enemies from afar.
Expect plenty more Rise of the Tomb Raider news, and outrage over the timed exclusivity, in the weeks to come.
