Best Buy Slashes $100 Off The Price Of Moto 360 Smartwatch

Technophiles who are looking for an affordable wearable can take advantage of the $100-discount Best Buy is currently offering for Motorola Moto 360.

The Moto 360 with leather strap in black, cognac, and stone all go for $149.99. The version of the smartwatch with natural silver and dark metal straps sell for $199.99, also down $100 from the original price of $299.99.

It is unclear when the sale will end, but it is likely part of a limited time Memorial Day sale for buyers who want to pick up the Android Wear smartwatch but don't have the $250 or $300 to shell out for the device.

For those not in the know, Motorola's Moto 360 is widely regarded as the best-looking smartwatch on the market. While other devices look like miniature square smartphones attached to a plastic, leather or metal strap, the Moto 360 sports a circular watch face that resembles what its maker calls the "familiar and comfortable" feeling of wearing a regular, inconspicuous watch than a high-tech smartwatch.

Although the Moto 360 got off to a shaky start, but updates to Google's Android Wear has given the well-designed smartwatch a more stable platform to run on. The Moto 360 features a 1.56-inch touchscreen display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a smattering of sensors that track the user's activities and a voice-responsive interface that allows the user to speak out commands to the device.

Like every device running on Android Wear, it works with any Android smartphone that runs on Android 4.3 or higher and can push discreet notifications from the phone to the Moto 360.

This is not the first time that the Moto 360 saw its price make huge drops from $250. Earlier this month, Motorola offered a customized Moto 360 via MotoMaker with prices starting at $179. Last month, Best Buy launched another Moto 360 deal that let customers pick up the smartwatch along with any Android smartphone for $100 off the total amount of both devices.

The price cuts are expected for Motorola, which is largely rumored to reveal the second-generation Moto 360 very soon. Just a couple of weeks ago, a listing on Bluetooth SIG's website showed that a Motorola device running on Android was evaluated for its compliances with Bluetooth standards and specifications. The device was not specified, but it appeared to have model number BTMW03, which is too close to BTMW01, the first-generation Moto 360's own model number.

However, if you're not a fan of the circular watch face, Best Buy has another promo for the Asus Zenwatch in silver, rose gold or brown leather straps. Buyers can get the rectangular smartwatch from the Best Buy website for $180, which is $20 off its original price.
