Check Out This Amazing 'Star Trek' Captain's Chair Replica, Courtesy Of Adam Savage

Who doesn't love Mythbusters? It's a show about two best friends debunking urban legends — with explosions! It's one of the best shows on Discovery, and it's been that way for more than a decade.

Of course, it's not as if the show's hosts do nothing but bust myths all day long. Surely, they have personal lives, families, hobbies — it's not as if you can just live on the set of a TV show, after all. So, if someone like Adam Savage isn't out blowing stuff up in the name of science all day, then what is he doing? Plotting world domination?

Well, according to the latest video from Tested, it's less about taking over the world and more about reproducing pieces of science fiction history. More specifically, it's about recreating Captain Kirk's chair from the original set of Star Trek:

At nearly 40 minutes long, the video is a bit lengthier than most other YouTube videos, but for Star Trek or Mythbusters fans, it's definitely worth watching.

This is the story of Adam Savage recreating the Captain's Chair from the original Star Trek set. After buying a somewhat shoddy replica, Savage took it upon himself to build the chair from scratch — and the finished product is something that every nerd will want to get their hands on.

It's a stunningly faithful rendition of Kirk's original chair — aside from a few additional bells and whistles, Savage made the chair to a near-perfect scale, complete with a working set of buttons and switches along each armrest. In fact, most of the video itself is dedicated to finishing the chair's wiring — by the end of the clip, Savage is sitting in a fully functional Captain's Chair.

It's rare that anyone looks at a chair and thinks, "Man, that is the coolest thing in the world," and yet — here we are.
