Silver Mario Amiibo Arrives End Of May, Isn't Retailer Exclusive

Fans have known about the existence of a special silver variant Super Mario amiibo for a while now. What fans didn't know is how or when they would be able to get their hands on this figure.

Well wonder no more, as Nintendo has officially announced the silver Mario amiibo will be launching alongside the next wave of Super Smash Bros. amiibo come May 29.

Unlike the gold Mario before it, this silver amiibo won't be a retailer exclusive and should be on sale at your favorite amiibo retailer of choice.

The silver Mario will work just like the other amiibo before it and will be compatible in games like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, Mario Party 10 and Mario Kart 8.

If you can manage to snag one, that is. Though the figure isn't a retailer exclusive, it still remains to be seen how many of these figures Nintendo will be sending to retailers. If it's anything like the gold figure, snagging one of these silver Marios may be a challenge, as Nintendo is now notorious for being unable to meet consumer demand for the plastic toys.

Earlier this month Nintendo issued a formal apology to fans for being unable to meet demand, and promised that the company would be re-releasing harder-to-find figures, increasing figure production and being more open about amiibo release dates and news in the future.

The launch of silver Mario will give Nintendo an opportunity to make good on its promises. Or not. Either way, expect these figures to fly off store shelves quick. Better get in line early if you are serious about grabbing one.
