Images of Samsung's upcoming tough and rugged Galaxy S6 Active recently leaked. The smartphone has just made its way through the FCC with model number SM-G890A, which confirms it will be making its way to AT&T.
Samsung is basking in the glow of consumers' responses to its latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The handsets feature an all-new design that swaps out Samsung's love of plastic and replaces it with a more premium aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass 4 front and rear panel.
As evidenced by its name, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a variant of the standard S6 but includes a unique dual-edged display. The smartphone is in high demand, and Samsung recently confirmed that it had been caught off-guard by demand for the device and has already added a new production line that will allow the company to more than double the monthly output of the S6 Edge's curved display to around 5 million screens per month.
We reported back in March that, besides the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung was already planning a new variant of the smartphone in the form of the Galaxy S6 Active. Images of the handset recently leaked and appear to be the real deal; they also show AT&T's logo on the rear case and below its camera and heart rate sensor. If that wasn't proof enough that the Galaxy S6 Active was on its way to AT&T, its newly discovered FCC listing confirms AT&T will offer it.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is listed by its model number of SM-G890A in the FCC documentation. The model number confirms this smartphone is destined for AT&T, since it uses the same naming convention of the carrier's Galaxy S5 Active, which was SM-G870A.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active will reportedly feature a 5.1-inch quad-HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440, 16 megapixel rear camera, 5 megapixel front-facing camera. Additionally, the device will be both water- and dust-resistant.
