Serial leaker @evleaks took a break from his quiet life of retirement to announce that Verizon will be carrying four interesting new devices, two of which remain unannounced.
Evan Blass, better known by his Twitter handle @evleaks, says Big Red will be offering the Sony Xperia Z4, the unofficial iPad mini 4, a yet unannounced LG G Pad X 8.3, and the mid-range HTC Desire 526, which is already available in India. However, it is unknown when Verizon plans to carry these devices in its stores.
Sony has already taken the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4. Last month, the Japanese electronics maker launched the smartphone in its home country to little fanfare, followed by rumors that Sony will not launch the smartphone in international markets. However, a spokesperson for the company said that Sony is not ruling out the possibility of launching internationally, "considering the feasibility in other markets."
The 5.2-inch Xperia Z4 runs on a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset, a 3 GB of RAM and boasts 32 GB of built-in storage with a microSD slot. It has a full-HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera capable of recording 4K video, and a 5.1-megapixel wide-angle front camera. Out of the box, the Xperia Z4 will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop, but users can expect the device to get updated to newer versions.
Meanwhile, Apple devotees will also be excited to know that Verizon will also carry the iPad mini 4, which remains under lock and key in Cupertino to date. Apple is not expected to unveil its latest 7.9-inch tablet until October, when it usually introduces its latest iteration of the iPad mini.
Little is known about the iPad mini 4, but rumors suggest the device will run on Apple's A8X processor, the same one that powers the iPad Air 2, although other reports say the new tablet will actually run on the newer A9 processor that will also power the iPhone 7. The iPad mini 4 will also have a slimmer design, which is in line with Apple's penchant for ultra-thin devices, and will have 2 GB of RAM and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.
The LG G Pad X 8.3 is an entirely unknown device, but from the sound of it, this tablet appears to be the successor to the LG G Pad 8.3, which was released in the fall of 2013. Judging from its name, it will be an 8.3-inch tablet with better specs than its predecessor, which features a Snapdragon 600 chipset, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of built-in memory expandable up to 64 GB via microSD.
Lastly, Verizon will also carry the HTC Desire 526, a mid-range 4.7-inch smartphone with dual-SIM capacity and a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. The Desire 526 features 1 GB of RAM, up to 16 GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot for expanding memory up to 32 GB. The display is an okay 540 x 960 pixels, and it has an eight-megapixel camera on the back and a two-megapixel shooter in front.
