Tom Hardy was set to play Rick Flag in the 2016 movie Suicide Squad. However, it didn't take long for the actor to leave the project, and it caused the Internet to wonder why he chose to walk away.
At the time, it was reported that Hardy left due to changes in his schedule, but many thought it had a lot to do with Will Smith and the possibility of that actor getting more screen time than everybody else.
Well, Hardy came out in his latest interview to squash these rumors once and for all, but for some reason, we can't shake the idea that Will Smith is partly to blame for him leaving the project so early in its lifespan.
"There's a very practical element as to why I've missed out on that foray, which is because Alejandro [G. Inarritu] has overshot by three months in Calgary, so we've got to go back out to Patagonia or Alaska to continue shooting The Revenant which has turned into a much bigger beast than we thought, but that also looks exceptional."
Hardy talked about the Suicide Squad script and how much he loves it. He also claims something big is going to go down between the Joker and Harley Quinn, though he was careful enough to not reveal any details.
From what Hardy had to say, it is clear to us that the Joker and Harley Quinn are planning something big. It is clear that both characters are still an item in the movie since a leaked set of photos showed the words "Property of the Joker" written on the back of Harley's jacket.
It is also apparent that he is not in the squad, so chances are, the Joker is locked up somewhere, and it is up to Harley Quinn to break him out. Knowing the Joker, this movie won't end until he has killed a few people, including a member of the Suicide Squad.
At the end of the day, we can only hope that Tom Hardy's replacement, Joel Kinnaman, will do a splendid job as Rick Flag.
