Fans of NBC's Constantine got a little good news from series showrunner Daniel Cerone: the show hasn't been officially canceled, but it looks like it might return as a mid-season replacement for the fall television season.
So basically, the show's fate is still up in the air, because it all depends on another series failing this fall. However, it's likely that a new series will struggle early on (as several always do) and Constantine will return, so this news, although not exactly what fans want to hear, is better than learning that NBC completely canceled the show. It's very similar to the position Hannibal has been in over the past few years.
In a tweet, Cerone recently explained the current status of Constantine.
Meanwhile, fans of the series stay busy streaming the show, now that NBC has released all 13 episodes online. Cerone encourages fans to keep watching and to also get their friends and family to watch, as those numbers count in helping the network see the future potential of the series.
Cerone also encourages fans to keep tweeting about the show, using hashtags #SaveConstantine and #Hellblazers. During his recent meeting with NBC executives to pitch ideas for a second season of the series, fans tweeted so much that the series trended on the social media site.
NBC plans on announcing their fall schedule on May 11, so there's still a little hope, but from Cerone's recent tweet, it's likely we won't see Constantine on the list. But having the series on deck as a mid-season replacement is better than nothing, right?
Meanwhile, we have some ideas about what we'd like to see on a second season of Constantine. Hopefully, the writers pay attention.
