Proper health and hygiene habits begin right from the beginning of the day, so it's important to hit the ground running if you want to start working on a better you. To learn more about the essential health and hygiene rituals all men need before they head out the door each morning, we spoke to Vaughn Acord, hairstylist and the founder of V76 by Vaughn.
"If you can show a man that he looks and feels nicer being well-groomed, he will want to continue those habits," says Acord. "If I want to influence him, I have to be confident in my delivery and in my recommendations to him."
Morning Stretch
According to the expert, this is the first thing you should do to get the blood flowing. "Touch your toes, it helps wake you up. It's nice to have large glass of water right when you wake up."
Hit The Shower
"You can shave and brush your teeth in the shower to save time. Shampoo hair; if a man needs to hydrate his hair, leave in the conditioner while shaving."
All In The Details
Use a styling oil to detail sideburns, beards or hair along the neckline or jawline. "Do this when you get out of the shower, as you can't see properly in a shower and you don't want to make a mistake you can't fix."
After you towel off, you can powder down. "Especially in the summer, many men like to use a powder to stay fresh. You can use lotion before you powder if you like for extra hydration."
Finalize The Style
Go to the mirror to style hair. "If you want a hard look for your hair, put a product in while hair is still wet. If you prefer a messier, more natural look, let hair air dry and then apply a product that is moldable and has freedom."
Product Staples
According to the men's grooming pro, these are the three essentials products men should have on hand at all times.
Deodorant: "Good hygiene and smelling properly are essential."
Body Lotion: "It's important to hydrate the skin and body.
Hairstyling wax: "My V Rated Natural Wax is a great option. It's good for all hair types and is clean and easy to use. I believe that all guys should have something in their hair."
