It's been over a year since Sony announced that it would be bringing the PlayStation Now service to PlayStation 3. Finally, the cloud gaming service is set to become available for PS3 users.
On May 12, PS3 users will benefit from the much-awaited subscription and rental game streaming service from Sony.
PlayStation Now will be available as a seven-day free trial for PS3 users who are yet to sign up for the service. Subscribers to the service will enjoy access to over 100 games such as Saints Row IV, Batman Arkham City and more.
"We have some exciting news: PlayStation Now subscriptions will be coming to PS3 later this May! Now you'll be able to play a huge library of more than 100 hit PS3 games on PS4 and PS3, as well as select Sony Blu-ray players and TVs, all for one monthly price," stated Jack Buser, senior director of PlayStation Now, in a blog post.
The PlayStation Now subscription has been available for PS4 users since January this year. It will now offer support for the older generation gaming console for PS3 users as well. Thanks to the cloud saving option, PlayStation Now subscribers will be able to play their game across compatible devices.
Buser also revealed that the new games to the service for the month of May are now accessible to PlayStation Now subscribers. The service sees five new games added to its library. The new games are Fat Princess, F1 2014, Sanctum 2, Farming Simulator, and Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce.
In addition to confirming the expansion of PlayStation Now's subscription service, Sony used today's PlayStation Blog update to announce the latest additions to the growing list of games available to PS Now subscribers. The company also revealed that it will be adding new titles every month so that subscribers have something new to look forward to each month.
Those looking to subscribe to PlayStation Now for access to its extensive library can do so for $19.99 each month. Alternatively, one can opt for the three-month subscription offer that will cost $44.99 and give subscribers additional savings.
One also has the option to rent games from the available list in lieu of one-off payments.
