A post on the official PlayStation Blog revealed that PlayStation Now subscribers now gain access to five popular titles in February, headlined by Uncharted 2: Among Thieves by Naughty Dog and God of War 2 HD by Santa Monica Studio.
PlayStation Now is a game streaming service that is only currently available for the PlayStation 4, with the service to be enabled in other devices soon.
PlayStation Now was launched on Jan. 13, allowing gamers access to over 100 video game titles for the PlayStation 3. Dubbed as a "Netflix for video games," PlayStation Now allows gamers to stream games into their PlayStation 4 consoles, with no massive downloads required.
Upon the launch of PlayStation Now, the service already included access to Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and God of War HD among the video game library of 104 titles. As of today, the library has now expanded to 109 titles with the addition of five video games.
In addition to the sequels of Uncharted and God of War HD, gamers will now also be gaining access to Red Faction: Armageddon, a third-person shooter by Volition; Galaga Legions DX, an arcade spaceship shooter by Bandai Namco; and Arcana Heart 3, a 2D fighting game by Examu.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves follows the further adventures of Nathan Drake, a fortune hunter that has been drawn back into the world of mercenary treasure-seekers and thieves that he wanted to leave behind. God of War 2 HD has players taking on the role of Kratos, a once mortal warrior that has turned into a ruthless god that has taken over Ares' throne on Olympus.
Gamers looking to subscribe to the PlayStation Now service will only have to pay $20 per month or $44.99 for three months.
"We are working on officially launching subscription on Vita, as well as on PS3, PSTV, and 2014 Sony TVs soon," said PlayStation Now director of marketing Peter Jamshidi in the comments section of the blog post, in response to a question by a user. Jamshidi's answer reveals that Sony is looking to expand the service not just to video game consoles, but also into mobile video game devices and living room appliances.
The PlayStation Now has undergone beta testing for several months, and at one point, Sony was experimenting with a game rental service that featured prices that were too expensive for users.
While featuring the entire video game library of the PlayStation 3 is still a long way away from becoming reality, the 109 titles currently available under PlayStation Now is a promising start to Sony's new game streaming service.
