'Dragon Age: Inquisition' Free DLC Includes New Characters

Dragon Age: Inquisition fans are getting a surprise treat next week with the release of two free DLC packs, coming to the game on all platforms.

The first pack will add the Black Emporium, a strange shop offering unique items that first appeared in Dragon Age II. Among the items available is the Mirror of Transformation, which will allow you to change your character's appearance.

It will also include two new thrones to decorate Skyhold with, if you are a longtime Dragon Age player. Those who played Dragon Age: Origins with their EA Origin account linked will be granted the Legacy Ferelden throne. Same applies for Dragon Age II, which will grant players Legacy Kirkwall throne.

The game's second piece of free DLC is more of a mini-expansion for Dragon Age Inquisition's multiplayer mode. Called Dragonslayer, this DLC adds a new map and allows players to summon and battle dragons after crafting the new "Dragon's Call" item. It will also add three new playable characters.

One is Skywatcher, an Avvar warrior, and the second is a character by the name of Zither the Virtuoso, who made his first appearance on April Fool's Day last month. Last but certainly not least is Isabela, a returning character from Dragon Age II. Isabela is a swashbuckling pirate who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty, which is exactly why we ranked her as one of the Dragon Age franchise's best companion characters. Her inclusion in Dragon Age: Inquisition is more than welcome.

Players will be able to download both packs free of charge on May 5. The game's paid expansion, Jaws of Hakkon, will also be releasing in May for most players. The DLC expansion is already available on Xbox One and PC, but Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 owners will finally get the opportunity to check it out for themselves on May 26. In Jaws of Hakkon, players will explore a new area called the Frostback Basin, as they investigate what happened to the last Inquisitor who explored the cold, savage land. Downloading Jaws of Hakkon will set you back $14.99.
