The Apple Watch is finally set to go on sale, but just because it is officially "on sale," that doesn't mean that it will be easy to get one.
The device has been up for preorder for a few weeks, and high demand has led to some being told that they won't get their wearable until June. Once the device is officially on sale, however, there will be a few more ways to get it for yourself.
In a highly publicized move, Apple has said that users won't be able to simply walk into an Apple Store to buy the Watch. Instead, they will have to get an appointment in order to try on the device and then purchase it. Some might be able to walk into the store and get an appointment, but even then, they will likely be waiting in a long, long line of customers waiting to buy their own wearable.
Thankfully Apple has reportedly been able to catch up on some of its demand, so perhaps customers won't have to wait as long as they might think.
"We're happy to be updating many customers today with the news that their Apple Watch will arrive sooner than expected," said Apple in a statement. "Our team is working to fill orders as quickly as possible based on the available supply and the order in which they were received. We know many customers are still facing long lead times and we appreciate their patience."
For those who are able to get their hands on the Apple Watch, the Apple Watch App Store has been growing over the last few weeks. It is still rather small, however, hundreds of developers have reportedly been creating for the store.
According to some reports, the app store in WatchKit currently only has around 35 apps. However, inside the store, there is another store that is likely to become the storefront for the Apple Watch. In order to access these apps, all a user needs to do is download the Apple Watch companion app for iOS.
The Apple Watch Store functions in much the same as the usual App Store, showing screenshots of the app and a brief explanation of what the app does. In the Apple Watch Store, however, users will see screenshots for both the Apple Watch and the iPhone.
Only time will tell how many units the Apple Watch actually sells, but if preorders are anything to go by, the device will sell millions upon millions.
