Xiaomi Mi 4i Is Sexy, Powerful, Cheap And Not Available In The US

Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi 4i smartphone in New Delhi, India, representing the company's first phone launch outside of China.

Packing a number of great specs and Android Lollipop out of the box, the smartphone comes with an amazingly low price of only $205. Unfortunately, however, it will not be available in the U.S.

In fact, according to Xiaomi, the second "i" in the name of the device stands for India. It boasts a very "fun" design, coming in options of pink, blue, yellow, white or black. The design is very flat and simplistic, and is quite classy as a result.

The back of the phone features a subtle Xiaomi logo, a speaker grill and a camera with a flash, and that's it. Everything is very subtly placed.

It also features a 1080p display, and while some might suggest that this is a little below par in comparison to today's flagships, it's important to remember that this device is not a flagship and it only costs $205.

The camera on the device, which is built by Sony and Samsung, is certainly not below par, coming in at a huge 13 MP. It has an aperture size of f/2.0, which it suggests gives pictures an "artistic background blurring," even though this is really just a product of having a larger aperture size. The camera can take video of up to 1080p.

The rear-facing camera isn't the only camera on the device, however, and the front-facing camera is also able to hold its own, coming in at 5 MP. This should be great for those who take a lot of selfies or who video chat often.

The processing power of the device is also pretty impressive, coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615, which is 64-bit capable, just like the Android Lollipop software that it runs. This octa-core processor includes four 1.7 GHz cores for the more intense tasks, as well as four 1.1 GHz cores for background and basic activities.

As far as storage goes, the device comes with 16 GB of flash storage, which isn't a lot, however, again, for the price, it's not bad. Not only that, but users are increasingly relying on cloud storage for their mobile storage needs, making 16 GB even more doable.

As far as RAM goes, the device features 2 GB, which is great for the price of the device. It should be able to handle most tasks that the user can throw at it.

All this power for a device that costs only $205 is great, but the device is currently only available in India. Only time will tell if it makes it to other countries, though it's unlikely that we will see it in the U.S.
