Fans familiar with the universe of Thor know that only one person can lift the mighty hammer Mjolnir. However, that doesn't stop the Avengers in this new clip from the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
First is Hawkeye, who, let's face it, is probably not going to make the hammer budge. He does give it a good try, though, while the other Avengers laugh at him.
Next up? Tony Stark, who claims that he's "never one to shrink from an honest challenge." Of course, he can't lift it either, not even with the help of his Iron Man suit. Even Colonel James Rhodes can't lift the mighty Mjolnir with his suit. So much for technology.
One might think Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, might lift the hammer, but even he struggles with it, even making us think he's very close to Hulking out (although we'd like to see the Hulk himself go at it).
It's Captain America who makes Thor the most nervous. Why? Because the Cap manages to budge it. Probably because, as we all know, of all the Avengers (other than Thor), Steve Rogers is probably the most worthy of wielding Mjolnir.
However, we have to ask a question: why doesn't Black Widow give it a try? Let's face it, in the comics, Thor is now a woman, so it's sort of an oversight that this scene doesn't feature her trying to do some her fancy kung fu to release Mjolnir from the table upon which it resides.
Whatever the case, the video is only one of entertaining clips being released from the film, which carries the story of the Marvel universe into a world where a self-aware artificial intelligence (designed by Stark), Ultron, decides that humans are the enemy. With SHIELD effectively destroyed, it is up to the Avengers, with the help of ex-SHIELD agents Maria Hill and Nick Fury to stop it.
Avengers: Age of Ultron premieres worldwide on May 1.
