'Destiny' Patch 1.1.2 Is Out Now: Here Is What You Need To Know

The latest update for Destiny is here, and it brings a number of big tweaks and improvements to virtually every aspect of the game. You could read over these obscenely long patch notes for the changes here if you really wanted to, or you could take the easy way out and let us do all the heavy lifting.

From strike tweaks to more vault space, here is everything you need to know about Destiny Patch 1.1.2.

It's A 6G Download

We figured we would highlight this first. If you want to play Destiny tonight, you better get to updating. If you have your console set to auto-download updates you should be all set. Otherwise you will want to start the download as soon as possible. The sooner you download, the sooner you can jump in and experience the improvements.

Colorblind Support And Audio Controls

Colorblind support is coming to the game that will modify various color-drive gameplay elements to make it more accessible for color-blind players. Players also now have more control over the game's audio settings. You can now toggle game music on or off and adjust sound volume.

More Vault Space

When you've played Destiny for hundreds of hours across multiple characters, vault and inventory space becomes a precious commodity. It's painful to dismantle legendary and exotic gear just to make room for more of it. That's why the additional vault space coming this patch is such a welcome improvement. You now have 24 armor slots, 36 weapon slots and 24 general slots to choose from. That should make managing all your loot a little easier.

Item Lock

We've all been there: it's late, you are clearing room in your inventory and then the unthinkable happens. You just accidentally deleted a piece of gear you actually wanted. Dismantler's remorse is a thing of the past with this new update, which introduces item lock, a new feature that will proect your items from accidental deletion.

Strike Difficulty

Two of the game's strikes are getting some significant changes to reduce their difficulty. The strength and number of enemies in the Cereberus Vae III and Dust Palace strikes have been modified so that players should have an easier time finishing them.

User Interface Improvements

Quest nodes and nodes that involve multiple steps or activities should be a little easier to understand now, thanks to this update. Players can also now click in the left stick on their controller to have the user interface when in item inspection mode, perfect for taking screenshots and showing off your new loot.

PvP Ammo Changes

The likelihood of players battling on Blind Watch and Firebase Delphi in Control, Iron Banner, and Inferno Control playlists has been greatly reduced, as has the amount of special ammo in player vs. player matches. Players will now receive 25 percent less special ammo upon picking up an ammo crate and will no longer drop that ammo upon death. The ammo respawn time has been increased and the number of special ammo crates on maps as a whole have been reduced.

There are a number of other smaller tweaks and bug fixes included in Bungie's official patch notes, but these are all the major changes. This will be the last significant Destiny update prior to the release of the game's second expansion on May 19, an expansion that won't include a new raid.
