Through a press release, Apple announced that it made updates to Final Cut Pro X, Motion and Compressor professional movie-making software to include new features covering motion graphics and improvements to video editing, packaging and delivery.
According to Apple, Final Cut Pro 10.2 now features easy-to-use tools for creating 3D titles for projects, along with improvements in masking using color grading and effects. Final Cut Pro 10.2 now also offers native support to cover more camera formats, along with RED RAW processing that is accelerated by the GPU.
3D titles in Final Cut Pro 10.2 can be created using easy drag-and-drop tools, with the software including templates that can be used to quickly start using the new feature. There are also some cinematic templates for 3D titles, which come with animations and backgrounds. Titles can now also be converted from 2D to 3D and customized through various styles of text, materials, edges and lighting.
Final Cut Pro 10.2 users are also given the ability to use up to four video scopes at the same time for added precision when editing.
Motion 5.2, on the other hand, expands options for 3D titles through the introduction of the ability for users to create customized environments and materials, which can be instantly published to Final Cut Pro X. Dynamic titles can be created with multiple cameras and lights, along with multilayered environments with the 3D titles casting reflections and shadows.
Compressor 4.2, lastly, increases the ease through which a created movie can be packaged and put up for sale through Apple's iTunes Store. Through the software, users can select a movie and its supporting content such as trailers and closed captions, and then Compressor 4.2 will then create an iTunes Store Package. The package can then be simply submitted to the iTunes Delivery Partner to be put up for sale.
"From Hollywood blockbuster directors to first time movie makers, Final Cut Pro X is changing the way we edit movies today," said Apple senior VP of Worldwide Marketing Philip Schiller, adding that the updates to Apple's line up of movie-making tools make it much easier for users to work on everything between short videos and feature-length movies.
For new users, Final Cut Pro 10.2 is now available in the App Store for Mac for $299.99. Motion 5.2 and Compressor 4.2, meanwhile, each cost $49.99. For existing users, the update to the latest versions of the software is completely free.
