Apple released a number of updates, which include an update to the iOS with version 8.1.3, OS X Yosemite with 10.10.2, iTunes with 12.1 and the third generation Apple TV with 7.0.3.
Some of the updates were meant to fix the bugs from previous updates while some dealt with enhancing security and stability.
iOS 8.1.3. The update of the iOS to version 8.1.3 is aimed at squashing bugs that seemed to linger from the major iOS 8.0 and 8.1 updates released in the past year.
The changelog for the update includes a reduction in the required amount of storage when performing a software update, a fix on the issue that deals with entering a user's Apple ID password for Messages and Face Time, a fix on what could have caused Spotlight to cease from displaying app results, a fix on making multitasking gestures to work again on the iPad, and the addition of new configuration options needed for education standardized testing.
Users can download the update on their device by going through Settings > General > Software Update. It is also available through iTunes if there's a need to download it on the PC.
Some of the security issues that were fixed by the iOS 8.1.3 include a number of issues that could lead to arbitrary code execution, PDV vulnerabilities, web sites that can bypass sandbox and web sites that have malicious capacity to spoof the UI.
OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Apple released the OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 update through the Mac App Store. The new version brings a number of fixes on what causes Wi-Fi to disconnect, the slow loading of web pages and the remote email content loading into Spotlight despite being disabled.
The update also enhances syncing audio and video when using headphones on Bluetooth; iCloud Drive browsing in Time Machine; and VoiceOver speech performance (plus remedies to VoiceOver echoing characters when a text is entered on the web page and the input method suddenly switching languages). The release also beefs up Safari's stability and security.
iTunes 12.1.: reported
Taking up around 212MB, the update can be downloaded from the Mac App Store through the Software Update Mechanism. Other features of the update include performance enhancements when syncing an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch to iTunes and having the ability to purchase played tracks on iTunes Radio by a simple tap.
Apple TV 7.0.3. Apple has updated the third-generation Apple TV into version 7.0.3. While there are no new features that are offered by the update, it includes several improvements on security wherein most are similar to the ones found in iOS 8.1.3. These involve stricter checking of shared memory permissions, improved validation of metadata, removal of unneeded code and improved bounds checking.
