Project X Zone, the Japanese crossover role-playing game exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming system that was co-created by Bandai Namco, Capcom and Sega, will be releasing a sequel within the year.
The sequel, which will be titled Project X Zone 2: Brave New World is expected to be released in the West this fall, and will bring together even more characters from the famous video games of the Bandai Namco, Capcom and Sega including Resident Evil, Tales of Vesperia, Virtua Fighter, Mega Man and many more.
The first Project X Zone included a collection of characters from gaming titles such as Valkyria Chronicles, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Tekken, .hack, Space Channel 5, and other video games created by Bandai Namco, Capcom and Sega.
From a trailer video that was released for the sequel, Bandai Namco characters that gamers can expect to be included in the sequel are Tales of Vesperia's Flynn Scifo and Yuri Lowell, Tekken's Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama, .hack's Kite, .hack//G.U.'s Haseo and Soulcalibur V's Natsu.
Capcom characters that will be showing up in the sequel are expected to include Devil May Cry's Dante and Virgil, Resident Evil's Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, Mega Man's X and Zero, and Strider's Strider Hiryu.
Sega characters that will be making an appearance in Project X Zone 2: Brave New World are expected to include Yakuza, Dead Souls' Goro Majima and Kazuma Kiryu, Virtua Fighter's Kage and Akira Yuki, Shinobi's Hotsuma and Sakura Wars' Ichiro Ogami and Erica Fontaine.
According to Bandai Namco, the first Project X has been successful, with 400,000 copies of the game shipped worldwide. While 400,000 copies may not seem astoundingly high, it is still a figure that most Japanese role-playing games will never be able to reach.
Monolith Soft, creators of Xenoblade and Xenoblade Chronicles X, will be developing the title for Bandai Namco. Project X Zone 2: Brave New World will also be an exclusive title for the Nintendo 3DS.
Bandai Namco has another crossover title in the works, namely the Pokkén Tournament. The title is a crossover between Nintendo's Pokemon franchise and Bandai Namco's Tekken franchise, which will feature the different Pokemon battling it out Tekken-style inside a ring.
A trailer of the title revealed that playable characters include Pikachu, Machamp, Lucario, Suicine and Gardevoir. Smaller characters such as Fennekin, Snivy and Lapras are also seen to be available as support characters available to players.
