Remember that rumor about a 50-megapixel camera on the Oppo Find 7? Yeah, well, it's real. Oppo unveiled its new flagship in Beijing, China this week. The Find 7 has a gorgeous 5.5-inch 2K display, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and a 50-megapixel shooter on the back.
Oppo packed the Find 7 with all of the most high-end features and emerged with a smartphone that has a sharper display, better camera and faster processor than both the Apple iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Find 7 is also cheaper than both of those leading smartphones, at just $599. In terms of specifications, the Find 7 is unparalleled. In other words, Oppo means serious business.
The Oppo Find 7 is a tech-spec fanatic's dream. It has a 5.5-inch display with a 2K resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a pixel density of 538ppi. The Find 7 is powered by the brand-new Snapdragon 801 from Qualcomm, running at 2.5 GHz. The flagship also packs 3GB of RAM. Oppo included a ton of bult-in storage with 32GB, too. Oppo's homegrown version of Android, Color OS, is running on the Find 7 and adds a nice UI as well as gesture controls to the mix. The Find 7 comes with a 3000 mAh battery to power that massive and super high-resolution display. It also charges very quickly, going from 0 to 75 percent in just 30 minutes.
Perhaps the craziest specification on the Find 7 is its camera. Although the back camera is only a 13-megapixel shooter, it is capable of taking 50-megapixel still shots. Prior to the Find 7's launch, rumors pointed to a 50-megapixel shooter on Oppo's new flagship. Many tech pundits thought that the leaked, 50-megapixel images, which were supposedly taken with the Find 7, were fake. Now we know that those images were real and that they were taken by the Find 7. Nokia's Lumia 1020 and the Sony Xperia Z2 used to be the camera kings, but now the Oppo Find 7 offers serious competition. The Lumia 1020 may have a 41-megapixel camera, but the Find 7 can take 50-megapixel still shots.
When you use the Super Zoom function, the Find 7's camera will take multiple shots and piece them together to hit the 50-megapixel resolution. The camera also has other cool features like GIF shots, 4K recording and more.
As previously reported, Oppo also released a lite version of the Find 7, which is called the Oppo Find 7a. The Find 7a has a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 16GB of built-in storage, a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and 2800 mAh battery onboard. The Find 7a will cost $499
Both smartphones will be available in China tomorrow.
