Tomorrow's Wednesday, dear readers, and this is one heck of a big week for comics.
DC's Convergence has begun for real (at last!) and aside from the flagship series' first issue, we know of some tie-in issues that you won't want to miss.
Over at Marvel, most of what's being published is biding time until Secret Wars kicks off next month, but there are a few titles worth your attention.
Let's get started.
Is Convergence the multiverse-shattering event that DC is promising? Or is it a time-filler meant to keep readers busy while DC moves its offices from New York to California, as some more cynical readers would suggest? Rumor has it that Convergence #1 kicks off with an extended sequence set in the Injustice universe, so whatever this thing is, we're in.
Are you a longtime Superman fan? Do you hate the direction he's been taken in thanks to Ultimate DC Comics the New 52? Not down with the Clark/Diana romance? Convergence: Superman #1 is the answer to your prayers. Not only does it star the pre-Flashpoint Superman cast, it's a whopper of a wish-fulfillment story, with Clark and Lois Lane about to have a baby!
Pre-Flashpoint fans are getting plenty of love from DC's big event, as Convergence: Titans #1 demonstrates. The band is getting back together in this one, after Starfire and Donna Troy go searching for Arsenal. Poor Roy lost his arm and his daughter back in the old days and went into hiding. But something seriously bad comes calling when they finally find him.
For more looks back at the days of DC yore, we also recommend considering Convergence: Batgirl #1, Convergence: Nightwing/Oracle #1, and Convergence: Speed Force #1.
Okay, so we really don't know what to expect from Deadpool #45. Marvel's been hyping this "250th issue" (across multiple volumes) as Wade Wilson's swan song. As in, the issue in which he dies. But this is Deadpool we're talking about, so taking anything Marvel says about it seriously is out of the question. It's a jumbo-sized issue complete with backup stories that tie into various Secret Wars eras. Because Deadpool!
Marvel says that Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man #12 is the series' final issue. But don't fret. Miles plays a big role in next month's Secret Wars, and it's comics' worst-kept secret that young Mr. Morales is jumping over to the main Marvel Universe once Secret Wars is over and the Ultimate Universe goes belly-up.
See our early review of Rebels #1 to find out why Brian Wood's latest masterpiece is on our must-read list. It's a tale of Revolutionary War America, boiled down to the relationship between a young man and woman who have to fight for their relationship and their country. Whatever you do, don't miss this.
Jupiter's Legacy still hasn't reached its conclusion, but that hasn't stopped Mark "I only write my own comic creations now" Millar from launching a prequel, starting with Jupiter's Circle #1. Circle rewinds the clock to uncover surprising secrets hidden in the pasts of Legacy's main characters.
Todd McFarlane presents a brand new take on the traditional superman myth with Savior. A god-like man appears out of nowhere in the real world, a man with superpowers who wants to make the world a better place. But there's a left-field twist: this man has no memory of who he is, and there are no records of his existence. How would the real world react to the sudden appearance of a man with the powers of God? Savior #1 is where you can find out.
