Chicago Man Escapes Tow Truck By Simply Driving Away Into The Night

Everyone who owns a car or truck knows the pain of getting a ticket, but watching as your car is picked up and towed away is even worse.

For many people, everyday life only works because of their car: it could be the only way to get around, the only way to get to work or pick up their kids.

Watching it get towed not only means you have to change everything about how you get around on the spot, but if you want your car back, it's going to cost you.

That's why, despite it being incredibly illegal, watching someone escape the clutches of a tow truck is extremely satisfying.

In all fairness: don't ever try this. Not only could it completely wreck your car or the tow truck (which is just going to cost you even more), but you could end up hurting any number of different things in the surrounding area. This guy was lucky that the street was basically empty - had someone tried this during the day, it could have ended very differently

With that out of the way: this is awesome!

The car sits on the tow truck just long enough to make you wonder if it'll actually get away - then, out of nowhere, the jeep just decides to leave. It's not the smoothest take-off, sure...but anyone who's ever been towed knows just how horrifying it is.

Did this guy get out of whatever ticket he got? Probably not - if he was that far onto the tow truck already, they probably have his information written down somewhere. If anything, the cost of everything just went up (especially if the tow truck was damaged).

...but that's not the point: this is about escaping something that could potentially muck up your life for weeks. It's about avoiding something that could cost you far more than an arm and a leg. It's about freedom.

Whoever you are, dear Chicagoan: you're free.
