FBI SWAT; Great Britain's SAS; France's GIGN; Germany's GSG9; Russia's Spetsnaz. Soldiers from these five law enforcement agencies all have a part to play in Rainbow Six: Siege.
Ubisoft has just posted a brand new trailer for Siege as well as a behind-the-scenes video that explores the game's use of elite soldiers from across a variety of nationalities and specialties. These 20 Operators, all of whom are experts in close-quarters, tactical, counter-terrorism combat, fall under one of several classes, but one of the unique twists that Rainbow Six: Siege brings to the table is that only one player can sign up for one of these Operators on the team. Once that role is filled, it's gone from the queue and no one else can fill it.
Rainbow Six: Siege, the next iteration of the venerable Tom Clancy franchise, is a five vs. five shooter in which opposing teams play different roles in suburban counter-terrorism scenarios. One team is there to defend a position, to fortify it and repel outsiders. The other team is there to attack, to breach the stronghold and break the enemy's grip on the objective. A special emphasis has been placed on destructive environments such as walls, ceilings and floors, which the game has you manipulate as part of your arsenal of weaponry.
Here's the new trailer.
And here's the behind-the-scenes video that goes into detail regarding the Operators and how their distinctive abilities help shape the experience.
Ubisoft expects to release Rainbow Six: Siege sometime this fall for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. It's a solid bet that you'll be hearing plenty more about the game coming out of E3 in June.
