Flappy Bird creator considering bringing the game back from the dead: Why?

For all those who were distraught after the popular and addictive mobile game, Flappy Bird, was removed from the app stores, your mourning could come to an end soon enough. Creator of the game, Dong Nguyen, revealed to the Rolling Stones in an extensive interview that he is considering the possibility of bringing Flappy Bird back from the grave and into the land of the living once more.

The idea to return Flappy Bird back to the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store might have a lot to do with the vast amount of clones that have popped up ever since Nguyen removed the game a month ago. In the early days of Flappy Bird's demise, a new clone popped up on Google Play and the App Store at almost every 24 minutes, proving how popular the game has become among mobile gamers.

Nguyen removed Flappy Bird due to his own mental well being, and the fact that the game was addictive to others. Whether those reasons can be seen as valid for the removal of a simple game is up for debate, but one thing is certain, Flappy Bird, despite its lack of originality, is a mobile gaming sensation and could even become just as big as Angry Birds.

According to the Rolling Stones, Flappy Bird is still generating Nguyen a lot of money. In fact, he's making tens of thousands of dollars from players who have downloaded the game before it was removed. If Nguyen should return to the game to both Google Play and the iOS App Store, it is possible Flappy Bird could become even more popular than it was before, making Nguyen a very wealthy man.

The big question, however, is why would Nguyen bring Flappy Bird back from the darkness?

It's quite simple, money. Flappy Bird made Nguyen over $50,000 per day, even after Google and Apple took their respective shares of the profit. Thanks to the game's success, Nguyen is now planning to purchase an apartment and a Mini Cooper. Nguyen has also left his day job, which means he would need something to keep the cash flow going to his bank account, and what better way to make this happen than bring Flappy Bird back from the land of the dead.

At the moment, however, Flappy Bird is not his focus. Nguyen is working on three new games; one titled Kitty Jetpack, a game with a cowboy theme, and the third, a chess game that is slated for release this month.

If Nguyen does return Flappy Bird back into the hands of mobile gamers, he plans to warn gamers to simply "take a break." However, don't be surprised if his warning goes unheeded.
