Fans of the Mass Effect game series recently got a treat on Twitter when the cinematic director of the new game, Ken Thain, posted a behind-the-scenes photo of new work being done on the next title in the series.
The photo showed the motion capture set being used for game production.
Of course, we don't see much here, as even the plot of the game is being kept tightly under wraps. But we do know that the company uses TheCaptureLab in Vancouver for the game's motion caption work.
Last November, BioWare announced that the next game's lead writer would be Chris Schlerf, who also acted as lead writer on Halo 4.
"Every day is a revelation and every day I get to play in a new corner of the universe," says Schlerf. "To be able to look three steps ahead to, 'Where does this take us and how does it add to the way we look at the Mass Effect trilogy?' You couldn't ask for a better playground."
The new Mass Effect game does not yet have an official title, but it won't be Mass Effect 4, as the previous trilogy's story, with Commander Shepard, is complete.
The company has also promised multiplayer with the next game, although there have also been no further details about that. It's likely, though, that we'll get a preview at this year's E3.
BioWare's most recent game, Dragon Age: Inquisition saw the most successful launch in the company's history. However, the company stresses that the Dragon Age game template won't affect development on the new Mass Effect.
"Each game franchise needs to innovate and improve their experience based on what's best for it, not just what another game had success with because 'well that was successful,'" writes Flynn.
One other thing confirmed for the new Mass Effect is the return of the Mako vehicle, which makes sense as the company has also said that the new title will focus more on exploration.
