T-Mobile does not need to gatecrash another carrier's party since a simple announcement from the "Uncarrier" can surely get to the nerves of AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint.
T-Mobile has announced that it is expanding its Simple Choice Plan and what it offers definitely shakes the telecommunications industry once again. The $50-monthly plan that launched its Uncarrier campaign in 2013 has evolved to become better. Aside from all the perks of unlimited talk, text, and data, the service provider doubles the amount of 4G LTE data, double 4G LTE tethering, and expands unlimited texting to more countries. All Simple Choice plan holders can enjoy all of these without having to worry of extra charges or fees.
"In the mobile age, wireless data caps and overage fees are just this side of extortion. Take the basic plans from the Big Two with ridiculously low data limits that hit you with fat overages each month. It's like getting your data from the neighborhood loan shark and paying 100 percent interest when the bill comes due. It's the classic shakedown," said president and CEO of T-Mobile John Legere.
With the tweaked Simple Choice plan, T-Mobile leaves its competition scrambling for possible options for their counter offer.
"In comparing T-Mobile's Simple Choice plan to the competition's basic advertised plans, T-Mobile is the clear winner in terms of overall value for the price, offering more than double the amount of 4G LTE data, compared to AT&T and Verizon, and unlimited global data in 100+ countries and unlimited global texting at no extra charge, all without overages," a T-Mobile promo material read.
With the 1GB 4G LTE data and high speed tethering included, AT&T and Verizon is way behind as they offer just 300MB and 250MB, respectively. The unlimited international data and text offered by T-Mobile will also annoy its competitions as they either offer a pay per MB or pay per text scheme to their customers. Data overage is also a big issue as the "uncarrier" does not charge customers anything compared to other networks that almost doubles the charge.
Likewise, customers can top up their 4G LTE data if needed. An extra $10 payment will give extra 3GB, $20 will give customers 5GB, and $30 will mean unlimited LTE usage for the user.
"In a couple weeks, every single one of our millions of Simple Choice customers will wake up with more value without lifting a finger. Who does that? We do. Because that's what being the Un-carrier means - giving more to you without asking more from you. I'd love to see our competitors try to follow suit," said T-Mobile chief marketing officer Mike Sievert.
