Batman: Arkham Knight is one of the most anticipated game releases of the year and will serve as the climactic conclusion to Rocksteady's trilogy of well-received Batman titles. Featuring stunning graphics, an open-world Gotham City and a brand-new villain for the caped crusader, it's hard not to be excited.
It will also be current-gen only, coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June.
Having one part of a trilogy of games on an entirely different set of systems isn't ideal, and it's that idea that makes this latest rumor seem plausible.
According to IGN Italy and Videogamer.com, a "Batman: Arkham Collection" is set to be released on PS4 and Xbox One this holiday season. Videogamer reports the bundle will include Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City running in 1080p, following in the tradition of other remastered last-gen titles making their way to newer hardware.
No exact release date is given and no word if the collection will include the numerous DLC packs that released for each game.
This, of course, is to be taken with a grain of salt for the time being, but it is curious that Batman: Arkham Origins prequel game wouldn't also come bundled with the collection. The game wasn't developed by Rocksteady, sure, but if you are porting two of them, why not just port all of them? Three good Batman games for the price of one would be a great value option for shoppers over the holidays, especially for those who played Arkham Knight but never had the opportunity to play the previous entries in the series.
We will just have to wait and see what Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has in store for later this year, as the company has so far declined to comment on the rumor. In the meantime you can get your Batman: Arkham fix by reading the weekly Batman: Arkham Knight prequel comics, and be sure to check out the latest trailer for Arkham Knight here.
