E3 2015 Predictions: Our Hopes For The Year's Biggest Video Game Show

E3 2015 is fast approaching, and with it the hopes and dreams of gamers everywhere. Every year the three-day conference brings all of the biggest gaming news of the year, as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo drop megaton announcements about upcoming games, release dates and new consoles.

We can all speculate about what we will likely see come out of this year's show from June 16-18. But where is the fun in that? Wouldn't you rather dream big? I'm talking about classic franchises being brought back to life. Shockingly soon release dates for some of the year's biggest titles. Heck, maybe even a brand new console or two.

Here is our E3 2015 wishlist.

Nintendo Unveils New Metroid

Is there a Nintendo franchise more in need of a revival than Metroid? Nintendo's sci-fi series hasn't seen a game since the mixed bag that was Metroid: Other M. Fans have been dying for a proper 2D revival of the classic franchise in recent years, but so far Nintendo hasn't seemed too interesting in a grand return for Samus Aran. That makes 2015 the perfect year to announce the return of Ridley, Space Pirates and Energy Tanks.

Battletoads Makes A Comeback

A 1991 sidescrolling brawler remembered today more for prank calls than its brutal difficulty, Battletoads is a game franchise you wouldn't expect to be in need of a new installment. Regardless, Microsoft owns the rights to the franchise and has repeatedly teased a new Battletoads game to be on the way. Of all the outlandish predictions on this list, a new Battletoads might just be the most likely, but that doesn't change how completely ridiculous the idea of a new Battletoads is in the first place.

Nintendo Talks Its Next Console

This one is a stretch to be sure, but it isn't impossible. Nintendo recently revealed it is indeed working on its next video game console, codenamed "NX." We know almost nothing about this new system other than it will be officially unveiled in 2016. Speculation suggests it may be a handheld console that can also be streamed or connected to a television, but nobody knows for sure. With that being said, it is certainly possible Nintendo will talk mobile gaming and NX during its E3 Nintendo Direct. Fingers crossed.

Uncharted 4 Gets Undelayed

Okay, so this is just incredibly wishful thinking, but maybe, just maybe, Sony will announce Uncharted 4 will be coming out this holiday season as originally intended. The PlayStation 4 exclusive was recently pushed back to spring 2016, but perhaps Naughty Dog is making more progress on the title than expected? Sony will, without a doubt, show off the game heavily during its press conference. It will be a huge disappointment if we have to wait another eight months to play it.

Amiibo Take Over The World

Nintendo's interactive figures have been a huge success for the company. Beyond the next wave of Super Smash Bros. Amiibo, we don't know what exactly Nintendo is planning for the future of its toyline. Our prediction? Complete global Amiibo saturation. The remaining roster of Super Smash Bros. will be brought to life in toy form, and we will see new lines based on upcoming games like the new Wii U Legend of Zelda. Oh, and since we already said Nintendo will be announcing a new Metroid, why not just go ahead and assume a Metroid Amiibo line as well. Amiibo. Amiibo everywhere.

Soul Calibur VI And Resident Evil 7 Announced

Sure, why not. We haven't seen a new entry in Bandai-Namco's popular weapon-based fighting game since 2012 - it seems high-time for Soul Calibur to return. Same goes for Resident Evil. Aside from the most recent spin-off, we haven't seen a numbered entry in Capcom's horror franchise since 2012. Both of these titles didn't perform great critically and any sequel would have a lot to prove. What better way to announce to the world that these great franchises are back and better than ever than by shocking fans with a new game announcement on the E3 stage?

Marvel Gets Serious About Video Games

Marvel may be one of the biggest names on the silver screen with their cinematic film universe, but when it comes to the realm of video games the house of ideas is way behind the competition. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in partnership with DC Comics have created a number of excellent video games based on DC properties like the Batman: Arkham series and Injustice: Gods Among Us. Marvel, on the other hand, doesn't have much to show. Past Marvel partnerships with Sega and Activision have resulted in a number of poorly received titles. It's time to get serious. For the sake of making a completely baseless and bold prediction, we say Marvel at E3 will announce a partnership with EA to bring the heroes of Marvel Comics to the realm of gaming in a huge way.

Fallout 4 Is Real And It's Coming This Year

Chances of Fallout 4 being revealed at E3 are high. Why else would Bethesda host their own press conference for the very first time? It's going to steal the show without a doubt, but while the game's announcement almost seems set in stone, still up in the air is when the game will actually come out. We're going to go big or go home with this one - Fallout 4 will come out this holiday season. The game has been in development at least since 2011, so it doesn't seem so far-fetched that the game would be ready to come out this year. If so it will be the star of the show, even if Nintendo does announce a new Metroid.
