The servers of Grand Theft Auto Online received a stability and security update over the weekend for the current-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and the previous-gen PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems.
The GTA Online servers have recently been going through severe disruptions due to the numerous flaws that were uncovered upon the release of the Heists DLC pack for Grand Theft Auto V.
Rockstar Games has now rolled out the 1.08 stability and security update for all the affected consoles in the United States and Europe.
The stability and security update, which was released on March 13, was confirmed by a GTA V information tipster with the account name Funmw2 on Twitter.
Rockstar, however, was not very helpful in detailing exactly what the update fixed.
"Fixes for GTA Online to improve stability, and other minor fixes for both GTA Online and Story Mode," posted Rockstar on its support page, leaving out a changelog that usually accompanies security patches released by other studios for other games to let gamers know what exact changes and fixes are being made.
According to Funmw2 in a tweet that he sent out on the same day that the update was launched, the fix for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 gaming consoles addressed issues for several unexpected errors, rendering problems, security bugs and matchmaking glitches.
According to YouTuber DomisLive, also known simply as Dom, Rockstar's security patch should be able to address all the game-breaking mods and bugs that affected GTA V, and at the same time make improvements on the overall gaming experience for users playing the Heists DLC pack on GTA Online.
Dom said that the game-breaking glitches that previously plagued GTA Online has caused users to be forced to take breaks as long as 30 minutes before being allowed to resume their ongoing online sessions and either host or join Heist missions and live-stream the game with other players on GTA Online.
Gamers have waited for GTA V's Heists for almost two years, with the DLC pack finally launching only last week. The launch of Heists has led to a massive resurgence in the title, with lots of activity as players once again logged on to GTA Online.
GTA V has maintained good sales across the previous-gen consoles into the current-gen consoles, with the version for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One introducing a new first-person mode, updated mechanics and refreshed graphics. The title is also expected to be released this spring for the PC.
