These days, most of the buzz surrounding Suicide Squad has to do with Jared Leto and his new haircut. It makes sense: the style could give fans a clue as to which version of the villain Leto will be portraying ... but there's some new Suicide Squad info that'll likely excite fans more than one of the actors' haircut.
While the majority of the main cast has been confirmed, there's still one very important part that has yet to be revealed: the villain. Of course, in a movie about the Suicide Squad, picking a single villain can't be easy -- after all, the entire team is composed of supervillains. That being said, there has to be an antagonist, and fans may finally know who that is.
Rumors have it that Ed Harris' role in the upcoming film will be that of Antiphon, a powerful leader in charge of a deadly mercenary group (and who has a prosthetic leg).
The news comes via Latino Review -- which has a history of predicting upcoming superhero projects with relatively high success rates -- but fans should keep in mind that Antiphon's appearance in Suicide Squad is still very much a rumor.
While Ed Harris would be a good fit for the villain, there have also been rumors that the actor will play Rick Flag, Sr., father of the original team's commander. Both roles make sense, but there's no way of telling who Harris will play until DC makes an official statement. Basically, don't expect any confirmation either way until DC decides to release the first trailer -- which is still a long ways off.
This rumor comes on the heels of yet another high-profile DC rumor, in that Chris Pine may take over the role of Green Lantern. As usual, DC has yet to make an official statement on either rumor -- it'll be a while before fans know if any of Latino Review's rumors are accurate.
Suicide Squad will hit theaters on Aug. 5, 2016.
