You've seen it in the trailers, and it blew your geeky little mind. Iron Man's "Hulkbuster" armor is a concept taken straight out of Marvel's comics: Always one to plan ahead, Tony Stark builds a gigantic suit of incredible power, specifically for the purpose of taking on the Hulk if/when his rage gets out of control.
The clips we've seen of the Hulkbuster in action are amazing, but try slowing them down for a good, detailed look at the suit, and you'll be disappointed.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer is always in motion, which makes those still images kind of blurry.
Sideshow Collectibles has announced a high-quality Hulkbuster figure that's replicated from the movie to precise detail. It's a 1/6th scale reproduction, measuring a whopping 21 inches tall. Best of all, it really gives you a sense of the size and scale of the Hulkbuster suit by including a bust of Iron Man's regular (Mark 43) suit under the helmet.
That's right: Iron Man wears his regular armor inside that massive Hulkbuster armor, plugging the smaller suit into the behemoth you see here. You have to wonder how much all that heavy metal weighs.
Sideshow promises that the collectible is completely accurate to the movie, and they've released the new pictures of the model that you see on this page, so here's your chance to get a closer look. The internal bust features LED light-up eyes and arc reactor, while the Hulkbuster itself features lights for the eyes, chest, hands, back and legs. Also notice that the version without the Hulkbuster helmet reveals the mechanical parts under its chest, showing just how perfectly it matches the version in the movie.
As for those details, they're fascinating stuff. For example, did you notice that the Hulkbuster has just three fingers? There's a thumb too, but it looks like Tony decided he didn't need the standard four fingers for this beast. What other little things can you learn by examining it up close?
By the way, you may want to start saving up if you fancy owning one of these bad boys. They sell for $825. You can see more images of the figure here.
