Animated James Bond 007 Fan Film 'In Service of Nothing' Debuts Online

When you think about it, the James Bond films have only ever shown a very small portion of 007's life. Every movie features the superspy in his prime, at his physical peak, ready to take just about anything on.

The only thing is, people don't stay that way forever: people age, and someone's prime years are short-lived.

So - what exactly would happen to a 00-agent who's lived out his days in the field, grew old and retired? It's something that the films have never addressed (and likely never will), but Adi Shankar answered that question: In Service of Nothing takes a look at what might happen if Bond was ever forced to retire.

First things first: this is a pre-visualization, meaning that it's basically unfinished. In the movie business, visualizations are used in order to show a studio what a final product will look like - it's a rough sketch, and most of the time, pre-visuals look nothing like their finished counterparts. If the creators of In Service of Nothing decide to finish the movie, it'll look vastly different than what's on display here.

That being said, even in its unfinished state, In Service of Nothing is impressive. While the animation and sets are still in a very early state, everything else about the short is great: the voice acting, the story and the idea of dropping a Sean Connery-era bond into the modern world all work incredibly well.

Bond never ages, but that hasn't stopped the fans from wondering what it would look like - In Service of Nothing does a fine job of depicting what might happen if he did.

Oh, and if you're wondering if the name Adi Shankar sounds familiar, it should - it's the same person who uploaded the dark and gritty Power Rangers reboot a few weeks back.

At this point, it's probably safe to say that Shankar has a knack for rebooting popular franchises...maybe someday, we'll get to see one on the big screen.
