William Shatner Holds Twitter Tribute After Missing Leonard Nimoy's Funeral

William Shatner paid his respects to his long-time friend and Star Trek co-star Leonard Nimoy on Sunday by holding a tribute on Twitter after missing the funeral.

Shatner received some negative criticism after announcing that he would be unable to make the funeral since he previously agreed to attend a Red Cross charity event in Florida. Instead, Shatner chose to remember Nimoy with the Twitterverse, along with addressing the critics.

The 83-year-old actor tweeted a picture at the front page of the New York Daily News which calls him "Captain Jerk" for not making it to Los Angeles in time for the service. "I want to share this. Let's discuss it," the tweet said.

Shatner then defended himself for going to the charity event after raising a lot of money. "So here I am' tell me off," he wrote. He also added that he would not be able to catch a flight after the event, joking that a jet from Florida to L.A. would be out of his price range at $30,000. He also said that his two daughter were attending the service on his behalf.

Since he would not physically be there to say goodbye to Nimoy, he chose to celebrate his life. He shared interesting facts such as Nimoy and himself were born four days apart, crediting their friendship to fate, and answered questions from Twitter users.

Shatner said that he took his job and role as Mr. Spock very seriously.

He was also tall, lanky, and intelligent.

But overall, he could describe Nimoy with one word.

He admitted the two didn’t see each other as often as Shatner would have liked because of busy schedules.

He also said Nimoy was a great dad and uncle to his daughters, and thanked everyone who helped him celebrate Nimoy.

And then he tweeted this little gem that sums it all up.
