Samsung Builds Momentum For Galaxy S6 Launch...With Out Of This World Concepts

The latest leaks regarding Samsung's impending Galaxy S6 smartphone claim the newest flagship smartphone will boast glass over what is reportedly going to be an all-metal form factor.

But, then again, maybe not.

The leaks come from Samsung Norway and they may or may not be a teaser hoax. It could just be the latest marketing strategy to drive greater attention, and of course media coverage, of the Galaxy S6 in the ramp up to the device's official debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) next week.

The teaser, aptly tagged "Is This The Next," reveals a few out-of-this-world concepts such as a triangle-shaped device and what looks like an empty glass-encased TV remote control.

Whether Samsung Norway is having fun or sending some sort of cryptic but fact-based insight on the impending smartphone is now a hot debate among tech media as the smartphone's launch date looms closer.

Given the smartphone is the latest generation of Samsung's flagship dynasty, and the increasing competition in the smartphone market, one can't fault Samsung for helping spur rumors and teasers -- if that's what these teasers are all about. Often the ramp-up and pre-launch timeframe is a critical point to grab current and potential new consumers' attention and get those handset users thinking about that next upgrade or switching over to a new device.

Here's what we know right now, just under a week until Mar. 1, which is the start of the MWC: the Galaxy S6 smartphone will boast all-metal frames in a dual-curved Edge display. Essentially, the smartphone will feature a three-sided display.

The Galaxy S6 will retain the previous Galaxy's 5.1-inch display.

The smartphone and electronics maker claims the display design proves more ergonomic for handset users. Increasing consumer use of streaming content services, from video to TV broadcast to full-length feature films, is prompting smartphone makers to become more innovative with display and form factor changes.
