Many people think that spiders are the worst thing on Earth. They're 110% nightmare fuel, and for good reason: eight legs, eight eyes and the ability to spin invisible web traps at the precise height of your face is more than enough to turn any dark corridor into a terror den.
It's ironic that the spider's watery counterpart - the octopus - isn't regarded with the same level of terror. After all, they share a number of qualities, and the only thing scarier than an invisible web trap is the crushing depths of the ocean - so, why aren't octopuses considered all that scary?
Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter - as always, Australia is here to take everything you love about nature and make it absolutely horrifying.
Basically, what we have here is a giant octopus sneaking up on a poor crab and jumping it. If that alone isn't horrifying, the ending is: the octopus doesn't just win, it drags the crab under its body and into the water, where it fades from view in order to peacefully devour its prey.
The synopsis doesn't even do it justice: we know octopuses as goofy, rubbery creatures with a penchant for squeezing through tight spaces and/or changing colors. Octopuses aren't typically known for blasting out of the water, attacking innocent little animals and dragging them towards a cold, watery doom.
So, if you're every traveling through Australia or a similarly octopus-populated area, just remember at any time, one of those things could come charging out of the water, attach itself to your foot and try to drag you back to its watery killing floor. Because, again, nature is a death factory.
