HTC is gearing up for a smartphone blitzkrieg as it readies to unleash not only its HTC One M9, but "Something HUGE," suggesting that sibling HTC One M9 Plus is also set to make its debut.
At the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 to be held in Barcelona, Spain, HTC is ready to unveil the successor of its popular flagship HTC One M8.
The company has previously confirmed that it will release a "new One" smartphone on Mar. 1 at a press event.
The cryptic Twitter teaser from HTC strongly suggests the launch of two smartphones from the company, but it could also simply mean that the Taiwan-based company has huge plans for the flagship HTC One M9. Rumors and leaks have pointed to a swift Snapdragon 810 processor and the company's best camera to date and the tweet could well be shooting for this angle.
On the other hand, the "Huge" tag on the event could be a literal reference to the HTC One M9 Plus, which is rumored to tout a 5.5-inch display.
According to the grapevine, the HTC One M9 Plus will boast a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. This was confirmed by the leaked Twitter image from reliable leakster @evleaks.
The leaked image also disclosed that the One M9 Plus would have a physical home button, a feature that the One M9 does not have. This button -- it is speculated -- will also serve as the fingerprint scanner for the device, somewhat similar in functionality to the embedded biometrics in Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
However, recent benchmark test result leaks suggest that the "HTC 0PK71" (possibly a codename for the HTC One M9 Plus) will have a 5.1-inch screen size. The phablet will also house MediaTek's MT6795 chip instead of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The MediaTek processor is a 64-bit one and is Octa-core.
The One M9 Plus, per the benchmark results, will also have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory. The device will also boast a colossal 20MP primary camera with 4K recording capabilities. The secondary camera for selfie needs will boast 12MP.
