We know that HTC is planning to launch a new flagship One M9 smartphone and One M9 Plus on March 1. Both devices have been spotted on CompuBench, revealing the specs of each handset.
As we get closer to Mobile World Congress, which kicks off on March 2 in Barcelona, Samsung and HTC are both holding events on March 1 to unveil its latest flagship smartphones and phablets. We just reported that the curved display Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge made an appearance on Geekbench, and its score trounced all other current flagship Android smartphones and tablets by a wide margin. Samsung will also introduce a more mainstream Galaxy S6 minus the extra screens that will appear on the S6 Edge.
While Samsung is showing the world its latest Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, HTC will be hosting its own press event on the same day. The company will also launch two new flagship smartphones; the HTC One M9 and One M9 Plus phablet. Both devices just appeared on a benchmarking site, revealing the specs of each smartphone before HTC's March 1 event.
According to CompuBench, the HTC One M9 is running Android 5.0.1 and will include a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display. It will be powered by a 1.9 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 430 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 3 GB of RAM. The HTC One M9 variant that appeared on the benchmarking site has 32 GB of internal storage, will feature a 20-megapixel rear camera, and 12-megapixel front-facing shooter for selfies and video chat.
The HTC One M9 Plus benchmark appears to show a discrepancy of the handset's screen size. It's reported as 5.1-inches, but most reports claim and leaked images show it will be larger. Its listed resolution backs up previous reports of it having a Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and it is running Android 5.0. The device is powered by a 1.9 Ghz octa-core MediaTek processor, Imagination Technologies PowerVR Rogue G6200 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 3 GB of RAM. The device, like the One M9 tested, includes 32 GB of internal storage, 20-megapixel rear camera, and 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
