We all know by now that Wheel of Fortune contestants either get really nervous and slip up, even forgetting how to play, or they make amazing guesses (remember that contestant who solved the puzzle with 12 blank spaces remaining to enter the record book?).
While we all love game show bloopers, we also love improbable wins. And that is exactly what happened during Tuesday night's episode.
During the "Final Spin" round of the Hawaii-themed night, one contestant made a ridiculous one-letter solve without needing any vowels. That's right, the contestant was able to correctly solve the puzzle with 16 blank spaces still available.
The category was "Event," and Sajak gave the wheel its final spin. Vowels of course would earn the contestants no money, but consonants were worth $1700 a piece.
The lucky contestant, named Rufus, was up at bat first, guessing the letter "T." With grace, Vanna White revealed that the puzzle included one "T," which was located on the second word of the puzzle.
Within seconds, Rufus made a grand slam of a solve, blurting out "Championship Match" to correctly solve the puzzle.
"Yeah, that's right," Sajak said, almost in disbelief. It seems like after all these years, contestants can still shock the great Sajak.
The other contestants along with the audience applauded Rufus for his epic solve, as he grinned ear-to-ear with joy.
"Somebody put something in the loco moco," Sajak said, proving his genius ability to spit out one-liners.
Rufus won a total of $7,100 in the main rounds.
