Xbox One update coming on Feb. 11 with battery life indicator and more

In a company blog post, Marc Whitten, Microsoft's Chief Product Officer, announced that the Xbox One update will arrive on Feb. 11. The update will include a battery life indicator light, storage improvements, install lineup options and more.

The Xbox One update will bring some much-needed changes to the gaming console's software and give users more control over their consoles. One you download the software update, you will be able to manage your hard drive to conserve space. The hard drive will tell you what downloads are taking up the most room and allow you to delete files that you no longer use. Right now, most users probably haven't filled up their massive 500 GB hard drives, but in the future Xbox One users will definitely appreciate having more control over all the games and apps they have installed.

The update will allow users to sort incoming apps and games as you install them. Now, there will be two categories: My Games and My Apps. The new categorization should help users monitor their downloads. Currently, you can't even check your download's progress, so if it stalls or stops unexpectedly, it may take you a while to notice. You can't check how much space the game or app will take up on your hard drive either.

Microsoft also brought back the battery life indication light for your controller to the homescreen. In addition, the update will allow you to use USB keyboards with the Xbox One console. The post promises that a few more surprises will be packed into the Feb. 11th software update, including key improvements to Kinect. Future software updates will reportedly include more dramatic improvements.

The post also confirmed earlier reports that Titanfall will arrive in March. In advance of the highly-anticipated game launch, Microsoft will provide yet another Xbox One software update on March. 4. Party Chat will be fixed prior to the launch as well. Titanfall will officially be released on March 11. With Titanfall, users will really be able to test out the new console's Xbox Live multiplayer capabilities. Microsoft calls Titanfall "the must-have game for this generation."

Microsoft concluded the post with assurances that the company is listening to all user feedback and taking criticisms into account with each update to the Xbox One. Many users have complained about Microsoft's Windows 8-esque tile interface on the Xbox One, calling it difficult to navigate. The Xbox Live and Party Chat functions have also been heavily criticized, but the March 4th update should resolve those issues.
