Marvel Working On All-Female Avengers Comic: A-Force

Marvel has chosen to create an all-female Avengers team, and it will be spun from its Secret Wars event. The team will feature an all-embracing roster that is led by none other than She-Hulk. The members will include such heroes as Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru, Jean Grey, Vampira, Elektra and a new hero who goes by the name of Singularity.

Interestingly enough, the all-female team will not be called the Avengers, but rather the A-Force. We suspect the "A" itself stands for Avengers or something else entirely.

"We've purposefully assembled a team composed of very different characters -- from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies," said G. Willow Wilson. "They'll all have to come together to answer some big questions: What would you sacrifice to succeed? What is being a hero worth?"

We should point out that this isn't the first time Marvel has created a team of superheroes consisting purely of women. However, the A-Force is larger than the others were and has more of a chance of becoming a regular issue should it turn out to be successful.

So far, we've seen several Marvel fans going crazy over the news, so the first set of comics should be a success, but after that, it will come down to the story and characters to keep readers coming back for more.

We expect the writers to do their best job with this series because it could spawn the very first movie with an all-female Avengers casting. Furthermore, it could attract even more females to the Marvel brand. The publication's female audience has been steadily growing in the past couple of years, and it is expected to increase even further due to the reboot of Ms. Marvel.

Should A-Force become a big success, we expect DC to follow with its own all-female Justice League squad, though, we doubt this needs to happen since DC has a lot of great female members in the current Justice League team. It is not necessary at the moment to put them in their own unit for whatever reason.
