Bluesky's official verification program is here after a massive demand from users. The social media platform will now hand out blue checkmarks to accounts that it authenticates.
One thing that stands out about this verification program is that, unlike X, it does not require users to be subscribed to any paid system. Instead, it is going the old-school route of checking the accounts themselves.
In this way, Bluesky will verify an account and corroborate with its online users to check that a certain account with the blue check is who they say they are, and this applies to organizations, companies, and individuals.
Bluesky Blue Checkmarks are Here
In a new update from Bluesky, the team is now announcing the arrival of its official verification system on the platform for all users to enjoy, with this latest perk allowing users to be authenticated.
This new system from Bluesky focuses on a more direct verification program where anyone may apply to get the blue checkmark verification, which no longer requires setting up one's domain.
The previous method, which required a domain to be set up, was on the receiving end of many user complaints about the complexity of the process, as well as facing the danger of getting impersonated, says Engadget.

No Subscriptions Needed Unlike X
This new verification program from Bluesky does not require a paid subscription to obtain a blue checkmark, unlike X. However, in its early stage, it will first work with a "Trusted Verifier," who would be given the power to verify other accounts directly.
This works for companies who will apply for verification and would be given a "scallop-edged" checkmark. They will then authenticate their representatives, employees, spokesperson, and other people who are part of their team.
Bluesky's Latest Features
One of the rising stars of the social media industry, Bluesky promises a novel way to enjoy social media with its decentralized approach and exciting features. Recently, Bluesky has looked to join the many other platforms that offer a TikTok-style experience with its vertical video feed available directly on social media.
However, it is also known for delivering new features that are similar to X, especially as it is a text-centered, microblogging platform as well, and it came from the same person who helped popularize Twitter, Jack Dorsey.
Despite Dorsey no longer being part of the platform, they were still able to deliver features like Trending Topics, which help categorize what people are talking about the most under one location for easier access.
There will soon be a paid subscription experience on the platform that it will call Bluesky+, and here, the company will deliver premium features for paying users, but this is not yet coming to fruition as of writing.
