The Social Security Administration (SSA) is changing things up after it became the most recent US government agency to face the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) layoffs.

The next step for them is to reportedly bring all of the agency's communications to X, the very same platform owned by Elon Musk.

It remains unknown if the layoffs focused on SSA's communications team.

SSA to Use X For All Communications

Wired has reported that the SSA is set to use X to communicate what the agency is working on to the public. SSA's regional manager, Linda Kerr-Davis, confirmed this.

According to the report, this is due to the restructuring campaign within the agency that was enacted by DOGE, leading to an overhaul of SSA's operations.

Because of this, the SSA will reportedly no longer hold briefings to relay their work to the media and public, but it will instead rely on the Musk-owned social media platform to disseminate information.

DOGE Hits SSA With Job Cuts

The report reveals that DOGE hit SSA with layoffs that cut jobs amongst its workforce, but it was not revealed what the extent is. Moreover, it remains unknown if DOGE focused its restructuring on the SSA's communications team, which led it to resort to X as its platform of choice.

That being said, the reported layoffs caused by DOGE have significantly affected the SSA, enough to steer it into a whole new direction.

The DOGE Effect on US Agencies

Elon Musk and the Trump administration have massive plans for the United States, and this became apparent when DOGE was established as the so-called watchdog of the government. It has been claimed that there is grave misuse of government budget and assets among agencies, and DOGE's job is to sort this all out. However, it only has until July to do its work.

One of the biggest targets of DOGE is the United States Agency for Internal Development or USAID, which Musk initially claimed to be "beyond repair," and he eventually suggested that it be abolished.

However, President Trump has other plans, and the agency will undergo a rebrand instead that will change its name to the US International Humanitarian Assistance (IHA) that will center on crypto.

Recently, there has been a series of clean-ups amongst US agencies as part of DOGE's measures to improve the United States government. Apart from focusing on looking into budget use, contracts, and more, DOGE has also caused downsizing measures for agencies.
