The next-generation experience on Google, AI Mode, is now expanding with new features as the company has integrated Lens image search capabilities. Thanks to this new integration, users may now take advantage of multimodal input for whatever they want to ask from the AI, with the renowned image search feature analyzing taken or uploaded images.
Alongside this, Google is expanding AI Mode's availability among testers, with the service now opening its doors to more free users who are enrolled in the program to experience the technology first-hand.
Google AI Mode Brings Lens Image Search Multimodal Input
Users who are part of the Labs testing program are now seeing a new feature to enjoy with the new AI Mode experience, which recently opened its doors for Free users to also enjoy. According to 9to5Google, the Lens visual search feature is now available to use via AI Mode, which allows users to not only describe what they see for the AI to answer but also take a photo of it.
This essentially upgrades the AI Mode with a multimodal input that users may take advantage of and offers better search processes to help users easily find or determine what they want to be explained by Google's AI.
Through this, users may get more accurate answers or responses from the AI as it may offer a more specific input rather than trying to explain what users are looking for via Search's text field.

Alongside this, Google is also expanding the access of AI Mode to more Free users, according to their latest notice on the Labs platform. Users who are part of the waitlist will be given invitations to try out AI Mode for themselves, with more users getting accepted into the program.
Everything About Google's New AI Mode
Late last year, it was uncovered by data miners that Google was working on a new experience right on its Search app called the AI Mode, and it centers on offering users results made entirely of AI-generated content. This was reportedly built out of AI Overviews, which provides a summary of all search results combined into a single field that offers a generalized answer from different sources.
It was only last month that Google formally introduced AI Mode to the world as it announced its arrival to the Labs program. Instead of getting webpage links as results with AI Overviews at the top, users will get AI-generated results that are similar to the look of conversing with a chatbot.
At first, Google only allowed paid users who are subscribed to the Premium service to access AI Mode on Labs, but the company announced late last March that it is expanding eligibility to Free accounts. The goal is to introduce a new method of Search where AI takes centerstage, featuring all the information from the web which it consolidates into a single field.
