There have been massive rumors about Apple's development of the foldable iPhone that is allegedly nearing its debut. New rumors have matched up the reported foldable against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, particularly when it comes to battery life.

These rumors claim that Apple is working on a new chip that will help the foldable iPhone have an improved battery efficiency.

What Rumors Say About New Chip

A rumor shared by Weibo user "Phone Chip Expert" involving the rumored foldable iPhone from Apple claims that the company is currently working on a chip that will help improve the device's battery life.

Because of this reported chip development, Apple can make the foldable iPhone a more efficient smartphone that requires less power from the batteries, making it more efficient overall.

According to TechRadar, this rumored change can help Apple become a more worthy competitor against one of the most famous foldable smartphones in the market, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7.

The said goal for this new chip from the Cupertino-based tech giant is to deliver on "all day battery life" for its rumored foldable smartphone, particularly as its power cells may end up powering a massive flexible screen.

The source claims that Apple wants to reduce the display driver integrated circuit from 28nm to 16 nm in size. This almost 50% size reduction will help make battery consumption more efficient even for a folding device with a massive display.

Apple's Rumored Foldable iPhone

Many rumors have been claiming that Apple is itching to join the foldable market to provide competition for the Android-dominated niche market. Over the past years, there have been rumors that Apple is developing its take on foldables, which they said is coming this 2025, but sources have doubled down on this information, claiming that the company is still working on it.

Eagle-eyed observers have also found a patent that hints at Apple's development of its hinges for flexible devices.

Other rumors have claimed that the rumored iPhone 17 Air will set the stage for Apple's foldable smartphone, particularly when it comes to having a thin profile.
